Millenia is seeking a highly ambitious Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team in the dynamic and ever-evolving oil and gas sector in Canada for employment in our Calgary office.

As a Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and implementation of various civil and structural projects within the oil and gas industry. Your expertise and technical proficiency will contribute to the success of our projects and ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform structural engineering analysis, design, and calculations for industrial facilities, including foundations, equipment supports, pipe racks, platforms, buildings, storage structures, and modifications to existing infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain structural analysis models and engineering calculation tools using RISA-3D, Excel, and other approved software, and clearly document modelling assumptions, load paths, inputs, and results.
- Prepare and review design calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, material take-offs, and construction documents in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineering disciplines, project managers, and construction personnel, to ensure seamless project execution from conception to completion.
- Assess existing structures and facilities through document review, site investigation, field measurement, and condition assessment, and develop practical recommendations for modifications, repairs, and rehabilitation.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews,



and technical discussions; present engineering recommendations clearly; and communicate project risks, constraints, and required decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and cost estimates for proposed projects.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers, delegate work where appropriate, review completed assignments and support the development of practical engineering judgement within the team.
- Provide field engineering and construction support, including site visits, responding to requests for information, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, resolving field issues, and verifying that completed work generally conforms to the design intent.
- Plan and execute assigned engineering work within established scope, schedule, and budget, communicate risks and changes promptly, and maintain accurate records of design decisions, assumptions, and calculations.
- Follow established quality-management procedures, complete required design checks and interdisciplinary reviews, incorporate review comments, and ensure that issued deliverables are accurate, complete, traceable, and suitable for their intended purpose.
- Apply safety-in-design principles throughout project development by identifying hazards, documenting design risks, incorporating applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements, and participating in formal reviews as required.

Experience & Qualifications:

- Accredited four (4) year engineering degree and a minimum five (5) years of work-related experience




- Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation in good standing with APEGA.
- Legally entitled to work and reside in Canada
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian and US design codes and standards for civil and structural design, such as CSA S16, NBCC, ASCE, AISC, and provincial building codes.
- Strong understanding of civil, structural and geotechnical engineering principles
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to propose practical and innovative solutions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and work in a time-conscious and time effective manner
- Sustain a safety minded design approach
- Set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks
