Team members work closely with property management to ensure compliance with local regulations and best practices in waste handling and sanitation.

Role Description The Waste Management Specialist is a part-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. This role is responsible for overseeing daily waste collection, movement, and sorting from chute rooms to designated collection points, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance. The specialist monitors the condition and sanitation of waste areas, coordinates recycling processes, and reports issues or maintenance needs to property management and PORTER leadership.

Daily tasks include documenting waste volumes, following established procedures for waste segregation, and supporting continuous improvements to waste handling practices.



The role may also involve coaching building staff on proper waste disposal methods and collaborating with vendors and haulers to ensure timely and accurate pickups.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in Waste Management and Solid Waste Management, with a strong understanding of safe handling and disposal practices.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Recycling processes and best practices to support diversion and sustainability goals.
- Candidates should possess foundational skills in Environmental Science to understand regulatory requirements and environmental impacts.
- Candidates should possess Training skills to effectively guide property staff on waste procedures and safety protocols.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in facilities or property operations, familiarity with local waste regulations in Toronto, ON, and robust attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, follow safety procedures, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, and work independently on-site.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or environmental certifications are an asset.
