In the role of Maintenance Assistant, you will support the Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance, in maintaining Amacon’s commercial properties throughout the Lower Mainland. This position entails performing a diverse range of maintenance duties and requires working independently as well as collaboratively. Position Responsibilities
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with projects and daily assignments Perform regular maintenance on properties including: changing light bulbs, carpentry, painting, minor drywall repair, minor plumbing and floor repair Repair Interior walls, and install drywall for repair or replacement Complete preventative maintenance and annual inspections Assist with general maintenance
Pick up debris and miscellaneous objects on properties and at work sites Complete regular and seasonal landscaping Pressure wash properties Clean windows
Assist with equipment operation and maintenance
Operate manual or small powered hand tools for maintenance
Operate ½ ton truck to haul materials and equipment to and from job site as required Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks Additional duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent Experience: Previous construction and/or maintenance experience an asset Valid Driver’s License
Must be able to provide a clean driver’s abstract May be required to drive between sites when necessary
Must be punctual and reliable Able to work independently Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment to and from a vehicle Physical Requirements
The Maintenance Assistant, Commercial is required to frequently walk, stand, and climb stairs/ladders and in/around commercial sites. Must maintain professional appearance and be able to work in a construction environment in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, sleet), dust, dirt, and other particulates. Must also have the ability to operate an automobile, read large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs. independently. Finger dexterity is necessary. Work Schedule
This full time salaried position generally works eight-hour days, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. This position is required to work overtime on weekends on occasion, and to respond to emergency situations including snow removal, ice control and other emergency operations after-hours.
