Veterinary Assistant Team Coordinator
Location: Vancouver, BC
Department: Emergency
Compensation: $19.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience
Reportsto: Assistant General Managerand GeneralManager
The role ofERVTATeam Coordinatorwillsupport,lead,and directmembers of their teamin a professional and kindmanner whilerecognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and co-worker questions.TheERVTATeam Coordinatorwill also workclosely with the hospital’sLeadership teamto promote a positive hospital image and continuously work towards the bettermentof thewholehospital.
Leadership duties:
- Direct involvement in onboarding,orientationand trainingfor new VTAs/RVTsinERdept.Provides clear trainingobjectivesandtimelinesforacquiringskills.
- Assistancewith organization,leadershipand roll-out of hospital-wide initiatives
- Participates in the development of VAERC Standards of Care/SOPs
- Participates in the development of VAERC Technical Training Manual
- Creates an inspiring team environment andmodels aculture of open communication
- Provides positive feedback and associate recognitionfrequently, in person or via Recognize App
- Assistswith identifying performance improvement opportunities, and provides support/training/skill development
- When schedule permits, attends recruitment sessions at local educational institutions to discuss student opportunities at VAERC
- Assistswithmaintaininghospital safety standards and bringing concernsforwardto the Health & Safety Committee
- Ensuresquarterly/bi-annual ER teammeetings are scheduled and carried outon time
- Submits a weekly in-person or written update toseniorleadership to address progress or needs to the ER team
Administrative duties:
- Administrative time assigned on an as-needed basis.
- ProducesERVTAschedules with advance notice.Ensureschedule satisfies equal and fair rotations for allfull-timestaff members.Ensures there isadequate coverage for time off requests. Works closely withERDVM/ERRVT/CCS schedulers to ensure adequatecoverage.
- With GM/AGMsupport,assistwith candidate screening,interviewingvia Workday job requisitions.
- Participates in hospital errands as needed
- Follows VCA Canada policies and procedures as set out in the VCA Employee Manuals.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Specifications:
- MustpossessER VTAstatus in good standing withVAERC
- Must be able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication,inter-personaland problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Outlook,Woofware, Instinct
- Read/follow MSDS sheets and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines for hazardous materials and radiation safety
- Display tact, diplomacy and complete confidentiality with colleagues,clientsand fellow leaders
- Be adaptable in attitude and work habits
