Contract, per episode. Remote, any timezone.
We have 1000+ cats.
Every one of them is real. Somebody stopped on a pavement in one of 62 cities, photographed a cat they did not own, and gave it a name. The app turned it into a trading card with a Chonk Level out of ten, a rarity, and two attacks written for that cat and no other. Then three more people found the same cat, and it became a Chonk, and all four of their names are on its card permanently.
Nobody has ever animated any of it. That is the job.
What you would make A web series built out of cats that exist. Short episodes, made for phones and for the places people actually watch things.
The cast is already there and already named by strangers: Moo, a common tuxedo. Max, a ragdoll who is king of his street. Eight hundred and eighty four others, with the coat, the personality and the silly attacks already written down by whoever found them.
You would decide what it looks like and how it moves. This is not a brief to fill in. The app has a look, orange and cream and a bit daft, and the cards have a shape, but the series itself is yours to invent.
You
- You can animate, and you have a reel that proves it. Style matters more than years.
- You can carry a short piece from idea to finished file on your own, because there is nobody to hand it off to.
- You think the cats are funny. That is not a joke requirement. The whole thing runs on affection, and it shows immediately when it is missing.
Useful, not required: character design, storyboarding, motion graphics, 2D rigging, a voice you can record or a friend who has one.
Why this is a positive gig
You would own the look. No brand team, no client notes, no committee,
no fourth round of revisions from somebody who has not watched it. What you make is what ships, and the answer to any question comes back the same day from the person who decides.
The cast writes itself and never runs out. 886 cats so far, in 62 cities and 23 countries, more every week. Each one arrives with a name, a coat, a personality and two attacks, all written by the stranger who found it. You will not be handed a character brief again.
The audience is already attached to the material, in a way no studio can buy. These are real animals on real streets, and every one of them has between one and four people who love it. Animate somebody's cat and you have made that person's year, and they will show it to everybody they have ever met.
Your name goes on everything, loudly. If this works, it is the thing you point at for the next ten years, and it is yours.
The shape of it A contract, paid per episode, starting with one short pilot so we can both find out whether we enjoy working together before either of us commits to a run. If the pilot works, there is a series in it, and I would rather do that with you than start again.
You set the rate. Tell me what you charge for a short pilot and what a series would look like from your side.
Remote, any timezone, working however you work. I am in Victoria, British Columbia, and I am the only person here, which is why the creative control is real rather than something written in a job ad.
To apply
Send three things
- Your reel.
- Your rate.
- One paragraph: pick any cat from chonkfinder.app/cats-of and tell me what happens in its first ten seconds.
Please do not send a cover letter. The paragraph is the cover letter.
