Our Ideal Candidate
Allnorth is currently seeking a knowledgeable, well-rounded Intermediate to Senior Automation Specialist with extensive experience in industrial control systems and a strong background in Schneider Electric PLC platforms.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with hands-on experience in programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting automation systems in operating facilities. Candidates should be based in the Calgary South area or willing to work from that location, with the flexibility to travel to operating sites as required.
A Day in the Life The ideal candidate will be a responsible, motivated individual excited to join our ever-growing, enthusiastic automation team. Our team provides a full spectrum of automation knowledge within our group.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide automation and controls engineering support to maintenance, operations, project teams, and third-party vendors across facility and field operations.
- Develop, review, and maintain engineering deliverables including P&IDs;,
Control Narratives, Control System Architectures, Panel Drawings, I/O Drawings, Shutdown Keys, and related technical documentation
- Configure, program, test, troubleshoot, and commission PLC-based control systems, including the development, implementation, and optimization of automation solutions across industrial operations.
- Participate in project planning, execution, commissioning, and start-up activities, while ensuring technical quality and adherence to standards.
- Communicate to head office engineering teams for support
- Perform general project coordination, documentation, and administrative tasks as required.
- Travel periodically to operating sites to support maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and project execution activities.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in Controls and Automation, delivering projects or supporting industrial operations and maintenance
- Extensive hands-on experience with Schneider Electric PLC and control systems, including Modicon platforms, EcoStruxure Control Expert/Unity Pro, industrial communications, and redundant processor architectures
- Solid troubleshooting, commissioning, and control system support experience within industrial facilities
- Experience with Rockwell Automation PLCs and PanelView HMIs is considered an asset
- Experience with DeltaV and Honeywell control systems is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) processes and industrial automation best practices
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Self-motivated and client-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Must be based in, or willing to work from, the Calgary South area and available to travel to operating sites as required
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
