The Bog Manager plays a key role in the success of the organization by planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing all bog operations. This position is responsible for leading the production team, coordinating harvesting activities, and ensuring production, quality, safety, and operational goals are achieved.

As a key point of contact for employees, contractors, vendors, and internal departments, the Bog Manager must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The successful candidate will be able to remain calm under pressure, make sound operational decisions, and foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment.

Primary Responsibilities

- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable health and safety requirements.
- Lead, coach, develop, and motivate team members to support a safe, productive, and high-performing operation.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee harvesting and bog production activities to achieve operational targets.
- Assign work, establish priorities, and provide day-to-day direction to team members.
- Monitor site productivity, production performance, quality assurance, and sustainability programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, operational efficiency, safety, quality, and cost performance.
- Collaborate with management and other departments to coordinate activities and achieve production objectives.
- Participate in production planning, inventory management, and raw material requirements.
- Organize the storage, movement, transfer, and shipment of raw materials.
- Ensure employees operate equipment in accordance with established standard operating procedures and safety requirements.
- Oversee preventative maintenance activities and support the effective implementation of the preventative maintenance program.
- Anticipate equipment maintenance needs and coordinate repairs, servicing, or replacement of equipment as required.
- Manage the availability, allocation, and effective use of equipment, materials, and other operational resources.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across bog operations.




- Participate in the development of annual operating and capital budgets while working within established cost targets.
- Prepare and communicate production summaries, operational updates, and reports related to peat harvesting activities.
- Provide recommendations to management regarding operational efficiency, productivity, equipment, staffing, and resource requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with the management team and coordinate activities with other departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Previous experience or knowledge of peat harvesting operations, industry standards, or regulations is considered an asset.

Education and Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business, Agriculture, or a related field is considered an asset.




- Minimum of three years of leadership experience, preferably within operations, manufacturing, agriculture, harvesting, or a similar environment.
- Experience managing production activities, employees, equipment, and operational resources is preferred.
- Knowledge of peat moss, horticultural products, and their production, storage, handling, and quality specifications is considered an asset.

Language Skills

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Ability to communicate instructions, operational information, safety expectations, and production requirements clearly.
