Saskatchewan, AB Work Hours: Shift 12 hrs/day Positions Available: 10 Pay Rate: $50.00-$67.00/hr Overview The Shell Scotford Upgrader team is seeking up to 10 Contract Field Process Operators to join the Production Team at the Scotford Upgrader.
In this role, you will be part of the Operations team responsible for the protected and efficient daytoday operation of site assets, as well as supporting major Turnaround (TA) events scheduled for Spring and Fall 2027 .
This position offers opportunities for both personal and professional growth while contributing to innovative and industryleading Turnarounds.
The Shell Scotford Complex, located near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta , includes a bitumen upgrader, oil refinery, chemicals plant, and a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility.
What Youll Be Doing Contract Field Operators will be hired in three staggered start groups: Group 1 Contractors Contract Start: Oct5, 2026 (orientation) or Contract Start: Oct19, 2026 (orientation) depending on available spots for orientation .
Contract End: June 7, 2027 ( subject to change based on site requirements ) Responsibilities: Complete training and postqualification requirements within assigned timelines.
Work a 554 rotating shift schedule (days and nights) as a qualified field operator.
Opportunity to be selected for Turnaround (TA) positions.
Work additional hours as needed; all hours outside base schedule compensated at contracted rate.
Support shutdown, decontamination, commissioning, and startup activities as a postqualified operator (subject to site requirements).
Potential Contract Extension Refinery TA Contractors may have an opportunity to continue employment to support the Refinery TA, contingent on:
Refinery business need Overall evaluated performance during Upgrader North Turnaround Overall Summary Group 1 - Start Date: Oct 5, 2026 End Date: Jun 7, 2027 - Duration: ~8 months - #of Contractors: 1-5 Group 2 - Start Date: Oct 19, 2026 End Date: Jun 7, 2027 - Duration: ~8 months - #of Contractors 1-5 Requirements What You Bring Minimum 4th Class ABSAcertified Power Engineer.
Experience working in a process operations environment.
Personal fireretardant clothing and CSAapproved 6? safety boots . o All other required PPE provided postorientation by SHELL (Hardhats, Gloves, Glasses.
Etc.) Current fall protection and confined space with Energy Safety Canada or Alberta Construction Training Institute before you report to site for orientation.
Valid drivers license.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.
Ability to safely wear a respirator or SCBA.
Commitment to Shells drugfree, harassmentfree, and safetyfocused policies.
Willingness to work overtime, including during Turnarounds.
Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays).
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Must live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate at own expense.
Work schedule varies by role and TA phase.
