I’m building Midah House, a new student-led debate initiative at the University of Toronto focused on serious public argument, disagreement, and discussion.
I’m looking for a few U of T students to join the founding board and help build it from the beginning. You do not need formal debate experience. You should actually enjoy discussing difficult ideas, hearing arguments you disagree with, or creating spaces where other people can do that well.
The first goal is simple: establish Midah House at U of T and organize our inaugural public debate. From there, we want to build regular debates, bring in strong speakers, and create something on campus that people genuinely want to attend.
You may be a good fit if you:
- Are currently enrolled at the University of Toronto
- Enjoy debate, philosophy, politics, law, culture, technology, religion,
or other areas where reliable disagreement happens
- Care about fostering open and thoughtful discussion
- Want to help build something from its earliest stage
- Can contribute ideas and actually help execute them
Founding board members will help shape the organization itself, including debate topics, speakers, events, partnerships, outreach, and the format Midah House develops.
This is an unpaid volunteer position. I’m looking for people who find the idea interesting enough that they want to help make it real.
If that sounds like you, apply with a short introduction about yourself and tell me what kind of question you would want to see debated at U of T.
