About Us The Refugee Centre is a Montréal-based non-profit organization supporting refugees, immigrants, and newcomers through legal, settlement, employment, housing, health and wellness, education, and advocacy services.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced part-time HR Coordinator to support a workforce of approximately 50 employees. The HR Coordinator will manage day-to-day HR administration, recruitment support, onboarding and offboarding, benefits, employee records, and routine employee-relations matters. The position will also be responsible for coordinating the Centre’s internal employee committees.
This is a mainly remote position requiring approximately 18 hours per week, with in-person attendance required for onboarding, interviews, employee and committee meetings, workplace inspections, fire drills, and other scheduled activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage onboarding and offboarding for employees, interns, and volunteers.
- Create, update, audit, and terminate employee profiles in ADP Workforce Now.
- Manage vacation and leave information in ADP Workforce Now.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrolments, changes, terminations, and employee inquiries.
- Support recruitment by posting positions, screening applications, coordinating and participating in interviews, and conducting reference checks.
- Respond to routine HR questions and advise managers on policies and procedures.
- Support team leads with performance-evaluation procedures, reminders, templates, and documentation.
- Maintain confidential and organized employee files.
- Review and update HR policies and procedures as required.
- Coordinate the Centre’s internal employee committees including health and safety, social committee, etc
- Help ensure compliance with applicable Québec employment and workplace health and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- At least three years of relevant HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or community organization.
- Applicants with Hands-on experience using ADP Workforce Now will be an asset.
- Knowledge of Québec employment standards and Canadian HR practices.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, employee records, and employee relations.
- Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
French is the primary working language at the Centre. English is required to communicate with English-speaking employees and candidates and to use HR platforms and documents available in English.
Work Arrangement
- Approximately 18 hours per week
- Mainly remote, with required in-person availability
- Availability during scheduled paid hours to monitor HR communications throughout the Centre’s four-day workweek
