Support the Fort Nelson Aboriginal Friendship Society as a Poverty Law Advocate. Help individuals overcome barriers related to income and legal services in a full-time capacity.
Your role will focus on providing advocacy for clients dealing with tenancy disputes, disability support, and debt issues. Ideal candidates will have some experience in social services and a commitment to empowering those who face poverty. This position promises a dynamic engagement with the community, assisting clients in understanding their legal rights.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advocate in poverty-related legal matters and issues
• Assist with negotiations, representations, and form assistance
• Evaluate legal issues while assessing client access




• Research policies relevant to poverty law advocacy
• Collaborate with the legal team for effective case management
Requirements:
• Completed two years of secondary education or equivalent
• Knowledge of local community resources for poverty
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient with computer data entry tasks
• Experience with Indigenous community services is a plus
Engage with the community, champion legal rights, and promote social justice through your advocacy work in Fort Nelson.
