Your Opportunity
The successful candidate will be required to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of nursing care for acute and critically ill neonates in the Rockyview General Hospital. The primary role is to deliver family centered, NICU patient care, which includes expressed milk and feed preparation. The nurse will participate in family teaching and provide leadership by collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to maintain standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
The nurse is expected to demonstrate effective communication to maintain positive working relationships with parents, families, and co-workers. The successful candidate is expected to practice to full scope and use critical thinking to independently manage multiple priorities.
Description
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing secure, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Timeless, Connect Care, Microsoft Word, Outlook, MS Teams. Current NRP certification. Recent acute care experience within 1 year. Preceptorship of a final focus nursing student in the last 2 years. Recent NICU experience within 1 year. Experience in preparing expressed breastmilk and milk fortification. Post-graduate continuing education on breastfeeding teaching and support.
