The Dianne and Irving Kipnes Urology Center (KUC), located on the 7th floor of the Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC), has a vision to provide state of the art urological care in an academic and research environment. We are seeking an experienced, innovative, energetic and motivated Licensed Practical Nurse who enjoys working in a quick-paced, team environment with a desire to provide exceptional care to our patients. Working under the direction of the manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the team who is responsible for a variety of nursing duties in the Urology Clinic-injections and procedures, Procedures area and/or support Surgery and other clinics at the Kaye.
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the procedural patients, as well as providing patient education.
Description
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications
A demonstrated knowledge of Urology, surgery and Orthopedic medicine.
Certification and current experience with IV initiation, direct IV push drug administration and ECG Rhythm Analysis required. Must have current sedation and cardiac rhythm interpretation SCCs completed. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be an independent thinker with the ability to problem solve and critically think. Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment required. Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull greater than 75lbs.
Physical demands and requirements include: prolonged, extensive and/or considerable standing and walking; lifting, positioning and transferring of patients; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. May be required to work extended day shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to those with experience in an acute care setting. Proficiency in Connect Care is preferred. Peri-operative, Post-anesthesia and Procedural Sedation certification are preferred. ACLS certification is an asset.
