Your Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Unit Manager within the Ambulatory Care Program at the Royal Alexandra Hospital , you will have the chance to support the goals and activities of the Outpatient IV Therapy Clinic. The clinic provides both short and long term support to patients and families who require a wide variety of IV therapy treatments as part of their outpatient treatment plan. The successful incumbent will exercise sound judgment and be able to work effectively in stressful/emergent situations within a very busy and fast paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other care providers both within the clinic team and outside referring sources. Evidence of strong decision making and assessment skills are essential along with exceptional written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
Description
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide protected, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i)
or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications
Recent 5 years experience in an acute setting such as Medicine, Surgery or Emergency required. Ability to work with patients with altered physical abilities. Ability to work in a face paced changing environment including attending to clinical emergencies. Strong knowledge in care and management of anaphylaxis. Confidentiality. Proven reliability and dependability. Work independently as well as in a team. Proven critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills including conflict management. Ability to work independently and within a team.
Certification in Direct IV medication administration with demonstrated clinical expertise. Expertise with peripheral IV insertion and monitoring.
Certification in Central Line Care with demonstrated clinical expertise. Expertise in transfusion medicine.
Experience with Connect Care, ePeople, and Microsoft Outlook, Teams & Shared drive.
