We are a robotics startup aiming to improve people’s lives through our technology. We are seeking a motivated Mechanical/Robotics Engineer to join a small, multidisciplinary team and lead development of robotic hardware design and implementation for real-world robotic applications.

Key responsibilities:

- Design robotic actuation systems end-to-end — joint architecture, transmissions (harmonic, cycloidal, planetary, belt, cable-driven), bearings, and compliant elements — balancing torque density, stiffness, backlash, and mass.
- Synthesize and optimize linkages for articulated motion, using kinematic and energetic analysis to define workspace, transmission ratios, and force/torque envelopes.
- Own mechanical subsystems from concept to production: hand calcs, simulation (FEA, multibody dynamics), prototyping, tolerance stack-ups, and validation testing.
- Build and test hardware fast — machine, assemble, and instrument prototypes; characterize stiffness, hysteresis, thermal behavior, and wear, and iterate on the results.
- Select and size actuators, gearing, encoders, and sensors against duty cycles, inertia, thermal limits, and control requirements.
- Produce and maintain CAD, GD&T; drawings, assembly documentation, and BOMs that are manufacturable, serviceable,

and repeatable at volume.
- Partner with electrical, controls, and software engineers so mechanical design and real-time control (ROS/ROS2) converge on a system that performs as intended.
- Work with machine shops and manufacturing partners on process selection, DFM/DFA, and the move from low volume builds to scaled production.
- Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and engineering standards in a fast-moving startup.

Minimum qualifications:

- BS or Graduate Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering.
- 2+ year of industry experience working on related topics. (High academic performance may be considered in lieu of experience)
- Proficient in the use of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion, FreeCAD)
- Experience in mechanical design for production fabrication. (CNC, injection moulding, 3D printing, etc.)

Additional qualifications

- Coursework, research, or degree in biomechanics, biomechanical engineering, or kinesiology — or hands-on experience in prosthetics, orthotics, exoskeletons, or gait analysis.
- Knowledge of safety standards or regulatory processes relevant to robotics/medical devices.
