The Specialist, Total Rewards is responsible for the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of the organization’s compensation, benefits, retirement savings, and incentive programs. Working closely with the Specialist, Payroll, this role helps ensure employees are compensated accurately, competitively, and consistently while supporting strong governance of the organization’s total rewards programs.

Responsibilities
- Oversee total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, RRSP, EESP, NRSP, and short- and long-term incentive plans.
- Coordinate administration of equity-based programs, including stock options, RSUs and DSUs, ensuring accurate records, reporting and employee communication.
- Conduct compensation benchmarking, participate in market surveys, and complete market and internal equity analyses.
- Complete job evaluations and support the maintenance of job classifications, salary structures and compensation ranges.
- Support annual compensation reviews, budgeting, benefit renewals, audits and program reporting.
- Work closely with Payroll to ensure compensation and benefit changes are accurately processed and reconciled.
- Maintain sufficient payroll knowledge to provide processing coverage and relief as required.
- Provide employees and leaders with guidance on compensation, benefits and total rewards programs.
- Maintain accurate records and identify opportunities to improve total rewards processes, programs and employee experience.
Requirements Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
- 4 or more years of experience in compensation, benefits, payroll and broader total rewards administration, including experience working with unionized and non-unionized workforces.
Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office365.
- Established understanding of compensation principles, market benchmarking, internal equity, and job evaluation.
- Knowledge of equity-based compensation programs such as stock options, RSUs, and DSUs is an asset.
- Payroll knowledge or experience, with the ability to develop sufficient proficiency to provide payroll coverage.
- Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency with Excel and HR/payroll systems.
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and comfort working with confidential compensation information.
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate analysis into practical recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs, deadlines, and competing priorities.
