Centre (SMC HC), located in down town Calgary, offers a wide range of services including urgent care, mental health, public health, home care, specialty clinics and community outreach.
The Urgent Care
Centre (UCC) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides care for unscheduled health conditions to a diverse population, as part of an integrated community service delivery model.
Description
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the productive flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications
High School Diploma required. Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk course. BLS – HCP provider certification. Recent experience working as a Unit Clerk in an acute care setting. Medical terminology required.
Proficient computer skills. Ability to work in a highly stressful, dynamic environment required. Able to prioritize work and cope with frequent interruptions. Excellent interpersonal communication skills required.
Must be flexible & adaptable towards change. Demonstrated strength in developing collaborative, effective working relationships with clients of cultural and socio-economic diversity. Proficiency with Connect Care (EPIC).
Preferred Qualifications
Recent experience as a Unit Clerk in an ED, Urgent Care, &/or outpatient clinic preferred. Current NVCI training preferred.
