Volunteer Membership & Partnerships Lead – Canada Africa Business Forum
Location: Canada (Remote)
Time Commitment: 3–5 hours per week
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: Late September 2026
Compensation: Unpaid volunteer role
Company Description The Canada Africa Business Forum (CABF) supports Canadian and international businesses exploring Africa’s dynamic and evolving markets. We provide strategic insights, advisory guidance, programs, and curated engagement across key sectors.
CABF works with entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and ecosystem partners to build relationships and create opportunities across the Canada–Africa business corridor. We are also continuing to build relationships with universities, business associations, and other institutions to expand the Forum’s reach and impact.
Role Description
This is an unpaid, remote volunteer leadership role for a Membership & Partnerships Lead at the Canada Africa Business Forum.
Working directly with CABF leadership, the successful candidate will contribute to our business development and membership strategy, owning efforts to grow the CABF community and build relationships with prospective members and partners.
The role will also play an important part in laying the groundwork for our 2027 Annual Summit, expanding the network of Canadian and African businesses, investors, and organizations engaged with CABF ahead of the event.
Role Responsibilities
- Work with CABF leadership on membership and business development strategy
- Identify and engage prospective Canadian and African members
- Build and manage a membership pipeline
- Develop relationships with businesses, investors, and organizations interested in Canada–Africa opportunities
- Support member onboarding and ongoing engagement
- Research and identify potential partners, collaborators,
and business networks
- Help identify partnership and business development opportunities to strengthen CABF’s reach
- Develop outreach and follow-up approaches to grow the CABF network
- Support efforts to grow the audience and business community that will underpin the 2027 Annual Summit
- Bring ideas and recommendations to help strengthen CABF’s overall growth strategy
Ideal Candidate
- Ambitious early-career professional, graduate student, or recent graduate with an interest in international business, trade, investment, entrepreneurship, consulting, finance, or economic development
- Proactive, personable, and commercially minded
- Confident reaching out to and building relationships with new people
- Curious, organized, and comfortable taking ownership without close supervision
- Robust communication and follow-through skills
- Interested in learning about business development, partnerships, and membership growth
- You don’t need years of experience — we’re looking for drive, curiosity, and follow-through
