As a Learning Advocate, you would play a key role in supporting learners with their GCSE and Functional Maths and English, on a one-to-one or small group basis. You would support students both inside and outside of their classes, working closely with the English and Maths teams and vocational curriculum staff. This will involve planning support sessions and providing regular feedback to supported learners to enable them to develop confidence and make progress in their English and maths classes.

This post will have a strong focus on supporting learners with Maths at GCSE and Functional Skills, at all levels.

You will need to possess GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above, and preferably have some experience of supporting young people with literacy/numeracy needs in an educational environment. You will have good communication skills, be well-organised and be able to motivate and build good working relationships with young people. This could be an ideal role for someone considering a first step into teaching.

It is expected that the working hours will be on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

The closing date may be brought forward if we receive a sufficient field of applications. We therefore encourage early applications.

Please note: for individuals who start a term time only role after 1st September,

the salary will be pro-rated from the start date to the end of this academic year (31st August 2026). This ensures that the correct entitlement to pay and holiday pay relative to the portion of the year worked. This will be paid in equal monthly instalments until 31 August. The salary will revert to the normal arrangements as stated in the advert at the start of the following academic year.
