Job Overview Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Accounting Analyst - AP will provide accounting services through GAAP Standards and Government Regulations to all schools and user departments with the Board. This position will train/mentor new and existing staff on computerized accounting software, and relevant Board policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include vendor management, process payments, create and main spreadsheets, strong cash controls, journal entries, monthly/annual account reconciliations and preparation of year end reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the verification of invoices and credit memos to be processed for payment.
- Responsible for Vendor of Records and Contractors service monthly account invoices for all schools and departments within the Board. Investigate outstanding transactions recorded on the monthly vendor statements to ensure prompt payment and no duplication.
- Analyze, verify, and process employee expense reports and disbursement vouchers to ensure accuracy and compliance with Board policies and procedures.
- Process general journal entries.
- Issue receipts for all cash received.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Completion of a two-year college diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- One-year of related skilled experience, preferably in a public sector environment.
- Demonstrated experience with analyzing financial records,
exercising sound judgement and communicating with various parties.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting operations and financial records management.
- Excellent computer skills utilizing databases and spreadsheets.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Police Check.
Work Environment
- Frequent close attention when completing journal entries.
- Exposure to frequent noise/interruptions when working in the office environment.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting up to 20lbs. Body mobility including: bending, squatting, rotating, kneeling, walking, sitting on a regular basis.
