Office of the Chief Information Officer - Executive Council To accelerate our technology transformation efforts, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is seeking technically skilled and innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solutions Engineers to support the design, deployment, and governance of AI-powered solutions across government.
Within this role, you will be responsible for developing, configuring, and maintaining AI capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem - including Power Apps AI Builder, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and Azure AI Foundry - while ensuring solutions are responsible, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
This position leverages industry best practices, standards, and trends to ensure that the OCIO is investing in, and building upon, technologies that carry a future-vision towards adaptability and supportability. We are looking for individuals who work well in a collaborative, team environment.
Key responsibilities will include
AI Solution Design & Development
- Design and develop AI-powered solutions using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, including document processing, sentiment analysis, object detection, prediction, and text classification models.
- Develop and deploy Copilot Studio agents and conversational AI experiences integrated with Microsoft 365 and Dataverse.
- Implement and configure AI workloads in Azure AI Foundry, including large language model (LLM) deployments, model evaluation, and prompt engineering.
- Develop and maintain connections between AI solutions and enterprise data platforms including Dataverse, SharePoint, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure-hosted databases.
AI Governance & Responsible AI
- Apply responsible AI principles to solution design, including fairness, transparency, explainability, and privacy by design.
- Develop and maintain AI governance documentation including solution assessments, data workflows, and performance monitoring plans.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with generative AI outputs; including hallucination, bias, and data sovereignty considerations.
- Collaborate with security, privacy, and architecture teams to ensure AI solutions comply with government data residency and information management policies.
Collaboration & Enablement
- Work closely with application development, data, and business teams to identify opportunities for AI augmentation across government services.
- Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to colleagues on AI tools, prompt design, and best practices for responsible AI adoption.
- Contribute to the development of AI standards, patterns, and reusable components within the OCIO.
- Stay current with emerging AI/machine learning (ML) technologies and assess their applicability within a government enterprise environment.
The incumbent may be asked to perform other related duties, as required.
Screening Criteria
1.
Diploma in computer science, information technology, information systems, or engineering (equivalencies will be considered)
2. Experience of a progressively responsible nature designing, building, or deploying AI-enabled solutions using platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform (AI Builder), Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, or similar (e.g., Anthropic Claude API)
3. Experience connecting solutions to enterprise data sources (e.g., databases, APIs, cloud platforms)
4. Experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and generative AI application patterns
5. Experience with responsible AI principles and data governance practices
