Compensation

$57,100.00 - $107,200.00 CAD

Purpose The primary focus of this role is to assess and improve data quality across the organization by developing data standards, governance processes, and monitoring controls for critical data assets. The role partners with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business metadata requirements, define data quality metrics, and drive data governance initiatives that support accurate, reliable, and trusted data.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain data quality KPIs, scorecards, dashboards, and governance maturity assessments.
- Design and implement data quality solutions, including data profiling, business rule development, root cause analysis, monitoring controls, and exception management processes.
- Analyze data health and provide recommendations for data standards, controls, and governance practices to improve the quality and integrity of critical data assets.
- Identify data quality risks and proactively recommend preventive and corrective actions.
- Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Category Managers, business stakeholders, and technical teams to identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues.
- Gather, document, and maintain business metadata, business glossaries, data definitions, and data quality requirements.




- Manage and enhance metadata repositories and data catalog content within Alation, ensuring metadata remains accurate, complete, and current.
- Develop and maintain data governance artifacts, including policies, standards, procedures, and governance documentation.
- Identify, classify, and govern critical, sensitive, and consent-related data elements across the organization.
- Document and maintain data lineage, data flows, business processes, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
- Utilize SQL, Python, Tableau, Cognos, Excel, and other analytical tools to extract, analyze, monitor, and report on data quality trends.
- Develop and automate reporting and monitoring solutions to support data governance and business objectives.
- Promote data governance best practices, data ownership, metadata management, and data literacy through stakeholder engagement, training, and communication.
- Provide data governance and data quality expertise throughout project planning, design, and implementation activities.

Skills

- Solid understanding of data governance, data quality management, metadata management, and process improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both business and technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of governance standards without direct authority.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within defined business objectives.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong accuracy and attention to quality.

Education

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

- Minimum three (3) years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Quality, or a related discipline.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting data governance frameworks, processes, and documentation.
- Experience developing data models, business process models, relationship diagrams, and data lineage documentation.
- Hands-on experience with metadata management and data catalog tools, such as Alation or similar platforms.
- Strong experience with Tableau and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with SQL and data analysis tools.
- Experience developing reporting and analytics solutions using tools such as Tableau, Cognos, Python, Excel, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of data quality tools, including Informatica Data Quality or comparable platforms, is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to work with large datasets, perform data cleansing activities, and identify data quality trends.
- Strong communication skills with experience facilitating meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
