Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in current infrastructure projects. The CIB’s mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Canada.
Reporting to the Director/Senior Manager of Investment Risk, the Analyst, Investment Risk will focus on measuring and assessing investment risk, including the reporting and monitoring of investments and associated return/impact.
Using strong oral and written communications skills and being highly proficient in MS Office, the ideal candidate will coordinate, plan, communicate and execute tasks related to risk and impact measurement. In this dynamic role, the Analyst will be responsible for managing various tasks and assignments that may run simultaneously with varying degrees of complexity. The ideal candidate is self-driven, organized and, detail oriented.
Your responsibilities include:
- Support credit risk analysis of individual investments across the CIB’s priority sectors, including project finance, public-private partnership, revenue-risk and availability-based structures
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Investment Risk Reports, Risk Rating Reports and other materials for internal review and decision-making
- Use risk rating tools to spread financial statements and apply applicable methodologies to support credit risk assessments, internal risk rating analysis and expected credit loss (ECL) calculations and reporting
- Support post-closing portfolio monitoring, including annual reviews, risk rating refreshes, covenant and performance monitoring and other credit control activities
- Support the Investment Risk team’s role as Data Owner by collecting, maintaining, cleansing and analyzing risk data,
ensuring risk records and datasets are complete, accurate, well organized and reliable for risk measurement, modelling and reporting purposes
- Assist in the maintenance of the Investment Risk register, including updating risk assessments, controls and mitigation
Your ideal profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, engineering or a related discipline
- Up to 3 years of risk reporting, data analysis, project management or other relevant experience
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, cash flow analysis, lending and credit risk concepts
- Highly proficient in Microsoft application skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearly and concisely
- Interest in infrastructure, project finance and public-private partnership transactions; direct experience in these areas, an asset
- Bilingual French/English, an asset
- Ability to work collaboratively with other areas within the organization to achieve positive outcomes
- Organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks/transactions
- Results oriented: accountability to meet scheduled milestones to ensure timely execution of the CIB’s mandate
