About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic mobile development team at Capital One Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced Android applications that enhance our digital banking services. You will own the technical architecture of multi-platform systems, working closely with cross-functional teams through the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Your expertise will help us improve software engineering practices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative mobile solutions. As a senior technical leader, you will also mentor junior and intermediate developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of mobile banking technology and deliver impactful solutions to millions of users.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess at least six years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin.



You should have extensive experience in application and data architecture, design, and development, with a strong understanding of modern Android development frameworks and tools. Proficiency with RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, Jenkins, and Jetpack Compose is essential.

Additionally, you should have a proven track record of mentoring junior team members and providing guidance to stakeholders. A bachelor’s, master’s, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and familiarity with agile development methodologies will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

- Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to deliver innovative mobile solutions throughout the SDLC.
- Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a diverse set of development tools and technologies.
- Contribute expertise on how emerging technologies impact our domain, and incorporate best practices into our development processes.
- Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.




- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in Android development to continuously improve our mobile platform capabilities.
