Bridgewater

On behalf of our client, Carey’s Insurance and Financial Services, we are recruiting an Associate Insurance Advisor to join their team in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.

About Our Client:

Carey’s Insurance and Financial Services is a well-established, 3rd generation, family run insurance provider known for its client-first approach and strong presence in their community.

Their

Bridgewater office is home to a close-knit team that values communication, collaboration, and supporting one another.

This is an office where people are encouraged to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and continue developing their skills. There is also a genuine understanding that life happens outside of work, and the team has built flexibility into the way they operate while still maintaining a strong commitment to their clients.

The Opportunity:

This is a client-facing insurance role focused primarily on auto insurance, with the opportunity to expand into other areas as your knowledge and experience grow.

You'll spend your day helping clients with quotes, policy changes, renewals, coverage questions, and general service needs. You'll also have the opportunity to sit down with clients, review their existing coverage, help them better understand their policies, and identify other ways the team may be able to support them.

Already have your General Insurance License? Fantastic. Don't have one yet? That doesn't necessarily rule you out. The team is willing to invest in training the right person who has the communication skills, attitude, and long-term interest to build a career in insurance.

For someone who wants to grow, there is room to continue developing your licensing and potentially expand into areas such as home, life, or commercial insurance over time.

The Ideal Candidate:

You enjoy working with people and know how to make someone feel heard, even when they're frustrated or having a difficult day.

You're a strong communicator who can stay calm, professional, and solutions-focused without taking challenging conversations personally.

Previous insurance experience would certainly be an asset, but it isn't the only thing we're looking for. A strong background in customer service, administration, sales, banking, or another client-facing environment could translate very well into this role.

You're comfortable learning new systems, asking questions when you don't know the answer, and working as part of a team. Most importantly, you're looking for somewhere you can stay, learn, and build a career, rather than simply your next short-term opportunity.

Responsibilities:

- Support clients with auto insurance quotes, policy changes, renewals, and general inquiries
- Provide friendly, skilled service to clients by phone, email, and in person
- Review client information and help identify appropriate coverage options
- Conduct client policy reviews and help clients better understand their existing coverage
- Process policy updates and maintain accurate client records
- Respond to client questions and help resolve concerns in a professional and solutions-focused manner
- Support the growth and retention of an established client base
- Identify opportunities to connect clients with additional insurance products and services when appropriate
- Complete front-line risk assessments in accordance with underwriting guidelines
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client financial and personal information

- Contribute to individual and team goals while supporting a cooperative office environment

Requirements

- General Insurance License considered an asset, but not required
- Willingness and ability to obtain the required General Insurance License
- Previous insurance experience considered an asset
- Previous customer service, administrative, sales, or other client-facing experience preferred
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning recent technology and client management systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to stay calm and professional during challenging client conversations
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable asking questions, receiving feedback, and learning established processes
- Positive, collaborative, and team-oriented approach
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to complete required criminal and financial background checks

- Comprehensive health and dental advantages, with premiums shared 50/50 between the employer and employee
- Life insurance and additional coverage included within the benefits plan
- Group RRSP with employer contribution
- Paid vacation, with flexibility based on experience
- Three paid sick days annually, with unused days eligible to carry forward for one additional year
- Additional unpaid time off and scheduling flexibility available when needed and operationally possible
- Monday–Thursday, approximately 8:45 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Early finish Fridays at 4:00 p.m.
- In-office position based in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia
- Free on-site parking
- Laptop and dedicated workspace provided
- Access to an on-site gym
- Training and development to support continued career growth
