Role Description The Associate Lawyer will handle a variety of litigation tasks related to insurance disputes, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and correspondence, and preparing briefs and memoranda. The role involves managing files under the guidance of senior counsel, attending client meetings, conducting examinations for discovery, and participating in settlement discussions.

The Associate

Lawyer will also appear in court and before tribunals as needed, support trial preparation, and collaborate closely with colleagues to develop case strategies. This is a full-time,



on-site role based in Toronto, ON, requiring regular in-person interaction with the legal team and clients.

Qualifications

- Strong litigation skills, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and preparing for hearings and trials.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in insurance law, civil litigation, or related practice areas.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to present arguments clearly and persuasively.
- Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and attention to detail in assessing evidence and legal issues.
- Ability to manage multiple files, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a cooperative, team-based environment.
- Commitment to professional ethics, client service, and cost-effective, practical legal solutions.
- Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.

3-5 years of post-call experience in litigation (insurance experience considered an asset).
