The Opportunity The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) is the national voice of Canada’s tourism industry. We bring the sector together, champion the issues that matter, and help create the conditions for tourism businesses and communities to thrive.

We are looking for a creative, driven and digitally savvy Communications Coordinator to help bring TIAC’s work to life across our communications channels. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, you will turn approved advocacy, policy, member and event information into clear, engaging content; keep our digital channels current; and help strengthen TIAC’s connection with members, partners and the wider tourism community. This newly created position is a hands-on execution and coordination role for someone who enjoys writing, creating, publishing and keeping many moving pieces on track.

Communications strategy, key messages and final approvals remain with the Manager, Communications.

What you’ll do

· Create, adapt and publish accessible copy and creative for TIAC’s social media, website, email, press, and other internal and external channels using approved advocacy, policy, member and event materials.

· Manage day-to-day social media monitoring and publishing.

· Engage thoughtfully with members, partners, journalists, and tourism organizations; escalate sensitive or reputational issues.

· Identify and amplify credible member and sector content and news that supports TIAC’s mandate and showcases the breadth of Canada’s tourism industry.

· Create simple, on-brand visual assets using approved templates and coordinate with professional designers or vendors when more specialized work is required.

· Complete routine website updates through the content management system, including news, events, resources, images, links and downloadable files.

· Support email and press communications by preparing and formatting member updates,



newsletters, advocacy and marketing campaign content, and media outreach.

· Help capture and publish timely content at TIAC events and activities, which may occasionally require work outside regular hours or travel.

· Track channel performance, prepare reports and recommend practical improvements based on audience engagement and content results.

· Review digital content for accuracy, accessibility, brand consistency and functioning links.

What you bring

· One to three years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, public relations or related fields.

· Strong communications, marketing, and/or journalism or public relations foundations, with the ability to turn complex policy, advocacy or organizational information into clear, audience-friendly content.

· Hands-on experience with organizational social media accounts, content calendars, media monitoring and outreach, publishing tools and online communities.

· Experience updating website content through a content management system and formatting email communications in Constant Contact, MailChimp or other email tools.

· Knowledge of SEO best practices, keyword research, and search performance measurement. Familiarity with AI-driven search optimization and emerging digital marketing technologies.

· Basic photography and short-form video skills, along with confidence using established templates in tools such as Canva or Adobe Express.

· Excellent judgment, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines,



contributors and approvals.

· A collaborative approach, with a willingness to learn and try, be a team player, be creative, and form solid working relationships.

· Relevant post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· At least 3 examples of your work across social, web, email, PR, or short-form content.

Nice to have

· Experience working in tourism, an association, government relations, a nonprofit or an advocacy-focused organization.

· The ability to work in both English and French.

· Photography, videography, and intermediate or higher video production expertise
