Syngenta's R&D; Team is seeking a Crop Protection Development Assistant Intern in Regina, SK. This internship role will work alongside our research team to conduct a small-plot research program with a focus on crops such as wheat, barley, canola, and pulse crops in Western Canada.
As part of Syngenta's Emerging Talent Program, you will gain hands-on experience, exposure to day-to-day business operations, and opportunities to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges while developing your professional skills.
Duration: May 2027 – August 2027
Accountabilities:
- Hands-on experience to confidently understand crop production requirements in key crops.
- Agronomic training to identify crop staging and pest identification (weeds, insects, and diseases).
- Knowledge of the safe operation of small research equipment and the use of chemicals.
- Understanding of data requirements and methodology that go into Product Development.
- Leadership, teamwork, and time management skills.
- Operation of small agricultural farm equipment, such as tractors and planters.
- Initiating trials and field testing of experimental products under development.
- Data collection and adherence to written protocols.
- Monitoring and managing site maintenance and activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A positive attitude and excitement for learning.
- Currently pursuing post-secondary education; preference given to those in the field of Agriculture.
- Class 5 license minimum.
- Comfortable wearing a respirator and working mainly outdoors.
- Ability to repetitively lift 20 lbs. at one time and work outdoors, which may require standing and/or kneeling for long periods of time.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous relevant summer experience is considered an asset; however, all experience levels and academic disciplines are welcome to apply.
- Farm and post-secondary school experience considered an asset.

The hourly salary for this position is CAD23.50 - 30.50. This range reflects market rates and is ultimately determined by several factors including the candidate’s skill, experience, and relevant education. At Syngenta Canada, we put people first.
