Data Governance Lead

Remote (Toronto, ON)

This role involves building out and documenting the client's data governance framework — operating model, roles & responsibilities, policies, standards, and performance metrics — while working directly with stakeholders on governance training and change management.

Looking for 5–8 years defining and implementing Data Governance Programs, along with hands-on experience in tools like Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, or Informatica CDGC.

This role will document and drive the core data governance framework — operating model, roles & responsibilities, policies, standards, use cases, and performance metrics — while working closely with client stakeholders to align governance efforts with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Document core data governance framework deliverables: operating model, organizational roles & responsibilities, policies, standards, use cases, and performance metrics
- Document the client's organizational direction, structure, business processes, and requirements as they relate to data creation and maintenance
- Analyze business objectives to determine how data governance can best fulfill organizational needs
- Identify cross-impact to other systems, initiatives,



and capabilities
- Propose solutions that balance timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality for client needs
- Clearly articulate data governance roles, goals, and timelines
- Work closely with client stakeholders to understand data challenges and objectives, providing guidance and training on the governance framework
- Create, consolidate, and present documentation on use cases, policies, processes, standards, and guidelines — maintaining traceability back to requirements
- Provide a business/process perspective during design reviews

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field
- 5–8 years defining and implementing Data Governance Programs
- 5–8 years of experience with 2–3 Data Governance tools/platforms (Informatica CDGC, Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, etc.)
- 5–8 years managing small projects — status reporting, risk & issue management, resource and budget management
- 5–8 years proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience participating in change control processes throughout a project
- Comfortable proactively handling project support/administrative functions
