Digital Media Assistant

University of Toronto Mississauga – Career Centre

Contract Duration: Temporary, full-time, short-term contract (less than 6 months)

Position Summary The University of Toronto Mississauga Career Centre is seeking a Digital Media Assistant to provide digital media, marketing, and communications support during a busy programming and event period. The role will support the creation of engaging visual and multimedia content for Career Centre programs, events, and initiatives. Working collaboratively with Career Centre staff, the Digital Media Assistant will produce photography, video, graphic design, and digital content for use across social media, web, presentations, and other promotional channels.

The position will also provide day-of-event photography and videography support and assist with organizing and maintaining digital media assets. As part of the Career Centre's Marketing team, the position may also provide temporary backup support for social media, web content, and other digital communications activities to maintain continuity during periods of staff absence or increased operational need.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Media Production

· Capture high-quality photography and video at Career Centre events, programs, and activities using DSLR and/or mirrorless camera equipment

· Edit and produce short-form video and multimedia content for social media, web, and digital promotion

· Create and adapt graphics, promotional materials, and other visual assets for Career Centre initiatives

· Edit and enhance photographs for digital and print use

· Prepare and adapt digital content for web and other online platforms

· Assist with audio recording and editing, where required

· Organize, catalogue, and maintain photography, video, design files, and other digital media assets for team use





Marketing and Digital Communications Support

· Support the development of content for social media platforms, including Instagram and LinkedIn

· Prepare and update content for the Career Centre website and other digital platforms

· Support the scheduling, publishing, and monitoring of social media content using established Career Centre processes and tools

· Assist with implementing approved marketing and communications plans for Career Centre programs, services, and events

· Ensure digital content follows established University and Career Centre branding, accessibility, and communications standards

· Provide temporary backup support for routine social media, website, and digital communications activities during staff absences or periods of increased operational need

Collaboration and Event Support

· Work collaboratively with Career Centre staff to translate program and communications needs into effective visual and digital content

· Manage multiple content requests and priorities within established timelines

· Provide day-of-event digital media and content-production support

· Assist with other related marketing, communications, and administrative activities as required

Qualifications

· Demonstrated experience with photography and videography, including DSLR and/or mirrorless cameras and related equipment such as tripods, lighting, and microphones





· Demonstrated experience creating and editing digital content for web and social media

· Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and/or InDesign

· Experience using Canva for digital and promotional design

· Experience editing video and audio using tools such as Premiere Pro, Audition, Audacity, or comparable applications

· Strong visual communication, design, and storytelling skills

· Robust attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

· Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively within short timelines

· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team

· Strong organizational and file-management skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and common workplace collaboration tools

Assets

· Experience creating multimedia content for events, services, educational organizations, or social media campaigns

· Experience with Audition, Audacity, or comparable creative applications

· Experience working with content management systems such as Drupal

· Experience with social media management or marketing platforms such as Sprout Social or HubSpot

· Familiarity with SharePoint, Asana, or similar collaboration and project-management platforms

· Experience developing content for Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other digital channels

Nature of the Role

This is a short-term, project-based position focused primarily on digital media production with additional responsibility for providing continuity in routine digital marketing and communications activities when required. The successful candidate should be comfortable working across photography, video, graphic design, and digital platforms and responding to changing priorities during periods of high programming activity.
