POSITION MANDATE
Reporting to the Vice President, Group Retirement Services, Ontario, the Education & Engagement Specialist, GB, Ontario, is responsible for delivering financial education, retirement readiness, and benefits awareness programs to plan members, employers, and plan administrators across the Navacord Ontario Group Retirement Services and Group Benefits portfolios. The Education & Engagement Specialist, GB serves as a trusted educational resource, providing one-on-one consultations, group presentations, webinars, and customized communications that help individuals understand and maximize the value of their workplace retirement and benefits programs. This role is responsible for developing educational content and resources, supporting member engagement initiatives, and partnering with Advisors, Account Managers, and plan sponsors to enhance financial wellness, employee understanding, and overall program utilization.
The incumbent ensures educational materials remain current and relevant through ongoing awareness of industry trends, and evolving workforce needs, while maintaining a professional, client-focused, and education-centered practice. This role is dedicated to education and member support and does not carry sales or business development responsibilities. This is a role specific to the Ontario region.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Member Education Sessions
- Deliver one-on-one educational consultations and facilitate group education sessions, seminars, webinars, workshops, enrolment meetings, and presentations for plan members, Plan Administrators, employers, and plan sponsors.
- Develop and deliver customized education programs aligned with the needs of plan sponsors, Plan Administrators, and employee populations.
- Create educational materials and communications that simplify complex retirement, financial wellness, and benefit concepts into practical, engaging, and easy-to-understand learning experiences.
- Support member engagement, communication, and wellness initiatives designed to increase participation, awareness, understanding, and utilization of workplace retirement and benefit programs.
- Partner with Advisors, Account Managers, plan sponsors, carriers, vendors, and external partners to coordinate educational activities, communication campaigns, and member engagement initiatives.
- Explain workplace retirement and savings programs, including Group RRSPs, DPSPs, DCPPs, TFSAs, and other employer-sponsored savings arrangements.
- Educate plan members on investment fundamentals, retirement readiness, contribution strategies, and financial wellness topics, including budgeting, debt management, saving strategies, and retirement planning.
- Explain workplace benefit programs, including health, dental, disability, life insurance, employee assistance programs (EAPs),
wellness programs, and other employer-sponsored benefit offerings.
- Educate and support Plan Administrators regarding plan administration processes, carrier tools, enrolment procedures, reporting requirements, and ongoing plan maintenance activities.
- Support Benefits Committee meetings and provide guidance to plan sponsors on communicating the value of their total rewards, retirement, and wellness programs.
Onboarding & Educational Support
- Assist with onboarding, enrolment, re-enrolment, plan implementations, organizational changes, and ongoing communication initiatives through educational resources and support.
- Develop and maintain Plan Administrator Welcome Emails that provide clear guidance on plan administration responsibilities, available resources, and key contacts.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver Admin Academy webinars and training sessions for Plan Administrators to support ongoing knowledge and competency development.
- Create and maintain Plan Administrator checklists, onboarding guides, and reference materials to support consistent plan administration practices.
- Develop and distribute Benefits & Retirement at a Glance resource that provide members with a clear overview of available programs, plan features, and available support resources.
- Create onboarding resources and educational materials that support new member enrolment and understanding of workplace benefits and retirement programs.
Communication & Engagement
- Develop and execute Plan Administrator communication and reminder campaigns to support key administrative activities, compliance requirements, and plan updates.
- Create and distribute plan member communications, memos, and educational materials that promote awareness and understanding of benefit and retirement programs.
- Support the development and maintenance of Total Compensation tools and resources that help employees understand and appreciate the value of their overall rewards package.
- Design and coordinate conversion campaigns, enrolment initiatives, and communication strategies that encourage participation and engagement in workplace programs.
- Create and manage wellness newsletters and educational campaigns that promote employee health, wellness, and financial well-being.
- Develop and distribute Quarterly Insights and Market Update communications that provide relevant industry, retirement, investment, and benefits-related information.
- Support the development of annual education calendars, communication plans, and member engagement campaigns.
Content Development & Best Practices
- Create and maintain a centralized library of financial education materials, presentations, guides, videos, articles, and member communication resources.
- Develop educational content that Advisors and Account Managers can leverage consistently across the Ontario Group Retirement Services and Group Benefits portfolios.
- Monitor industry trends, legislative changes, retirement plan developments, group advantages developments, and financial wellness best practices.
- Proactively identify emerging education opportunities and create resources to address changing member, Plan Administrator, and employer needs.
- Regularly review and update educational materials to ensure accuracy, regulatory alignment, compliance, and ongoing relevance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to establish standardized education resources, communication materials, and presentation templates.
- Partner with carriers, vendors, and industry organizations to source, evaluate, and leverage educational content and learning resources.
- Develop resource libraries, learning hubs, and digital education tools that improve accessibility, consistency, and user experience for Plan Administrators, plan sponsors, and plan members.
REQUIREMENTS:
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in group retirement services, wealth management, financial education, financial planning, pensions or employee benefits
- Mutual Fund and/or Life License is required
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or IFIC or related studies or experience
- University business degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of retirement, savings, financial wellness, and group benefits programs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Customer service oriented with a professional, approachable demeanor and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout Ontario to attend client meetings, education sessions, seminars, and other business events as required
