Hours:

Wednesday to Saturday, 8:15am to 4:45pm. Sunday, 8:15am to 3:45pm

Compensation:

$24.55 per hour

Summary:

The Scale Operator is responsible for accurately weighing incoming and outgoing vehicles and materials, recording weights, and maintaining accurate scale records. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service and maintain safety standards in accordance with Miller Waste Systems protocols.

Responsibilities

In the position of Scale Operator, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Must adhere to Miller Waste Systems safety protocols and must be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act




- The weighing of vehicles IN and OUT at a reasonable pace to ensure accuracy of tickets and cash transactions
- You will perform visual inspections of loads at scale (only) for contamination purposes as well as direct traffic to proper drop off locations
- You will be required to do Cash, Debit and credit card transactions, retail experience preferred
- You will review all tickets, cash register and global payments receipts to ensure they are correct and assist with paperwork as required, Answer telephone enquiries, take orders and direct calls.
- Providing exceptional customer service
- General housekeeping duties, yard clean up, (i.e. snow shovelling, sweeping, litter cleanup)
- Punctual with good attendance
- Knowledge of and practical skills in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- You will be required to fill in for any vacations or sick calls for all other called upon responsibilities including Traffic/Bin Spotting
- Ensure you aware of and always work within MWS’s safety Guidelines/Health and Safety Regulations/Policies and Comply with ISO procedures & Standard Operating Procedures
- Liaise with other supervisors, drivers, contractors and Regional staff in a professional and team-oriented manner
- Highly developed organizational and team building skills

Competencies & Qualifications:

- Most possess excellent entrepreneurial, verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills
- Proficient in Word and Excel,



strong PC based systems knowledge; with excellent keyboarding skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Previous customer service/sales experience an asset
- Outstanding customer service is a key. You must be a team player, with demonstrated safe working habits and a good attendance record
- You may be required to work extended hours and on stat holidays, Saturdays and Sundays are mandatory
