CITY OF KENORAFIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES

PAID-PER-CALL FIREFIGHTER

Salary: $27.40 per hour (Probationary rate) Hours Commitment: 2-5 hours per week (average)

The Recruit Paid-Per-Call Firefighter is an entry level position in the fire service and no experience is necessary as recruit training will be provided. Paid-Per-Call Firefighters provide an important service to the City of Kenora and are a dedicated part of our composite fire department.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

- Responding to emergency incidents including fires, rescues, hazardous incidents, and other public safety emergencies.
- Working as part of a crew to safely and effectively mitigate emergencies and protect life and property.
- Operating firefighting equipment, apparatus, and specialized rescue tools.
- Driving department vehicles and apparatus when qualified and assigned.
- Participating in recruit training and ongoing firefighter training to develop and maintain required certifications and skills
- Assisting with fire prevention initiatives, public education programs, and community events.
- Remaining physically and mentally prepared to perform the duties of a firefighter in challenging environments.
- Following departmental policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times
- All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Valid unrestricted Ontario Glass “G” Driver's License (or equivalent) and be willing to attain a DZ Driver's License
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of firefighting and emergency response.




- Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations.
- Demonstrates and upholds the core values of Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Service

In addition, successful candidates will be required to submit the following documentation at their own cost:

- Completion of a 3-year Driver's License Abstract deemed satisfactory to the Employer
- Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check deemed satisfactory to the Employer
- Completion of Medical Health Evaluation
