Schaaf Foods is a leading provider of baked goods to customers across Canada. For over 40 years, we have provided creative and delicious cakes, cookies, brownies, biscuits and other baked goods to Canadians via grocery stores and membership outlets across the country. As we continue to scale, we're seeking a strategic and hands-on Finance and Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and support the Company's next phase of growth.

Position Summary The Finance and Accounting Manager will serve as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial planning, reporting, and analysis functions. This role will partner closely with the executive team to drive financial strategy, ensure fiscal discipline, and provide the insights needed to support informed business decisions across the organization.

We are ideally looking for a recently qualified CA/CPA who is working as a Manager I within an accounting firm. This role is one where the candidate will be required to perform all the bookkeeping functions, and may not be suited for those individuals accustomed to managing large teams.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

- Develop and lead the company's annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team on growth initiatives, capital allocation,



and investment decisions

Financial Reporting & Analysis

- Oversee preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Deliver weekly financial KPIs to leadership and stakeholders

Accounting & Controls

- Ensure the integrity of accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions

Business Partnership

- Collaborate with operations, sales, and supply chain leaders to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability
- Support product costing activity, including quotes to new potential cusstomers

Qualifications Required

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including leadership roles
- CPA, CMA, or CA
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Familiarity with cost accounting in a food manufacturing or distribution environment
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Online
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights for non-financial stakeholders
