As a Junior Geotechnical Engineer / Engineer-in-Training, you would engage in:

KCB Nanaimo is looking for a motivated junior geotechnical engineer or Engineer-in-Training who is excited by technical challenges, enjoys being part of a busy and collaborative team, and is ready to contribute to a variety of mining projects. Our Nanaimo office is connected,



with strong senior technical staff who can provide excellent mentorship and hands-on learning opportunities. This role is well suited to someone who wants meaningful responsibility early in their career, is comfortable going to site, shows initiative, and can clearly present their ideas to colleagues and project teams.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

- Take on technically engaging work across projects that may include site characterization, slope stability, numerical modelling, tailings dam design, embankment dams, and construction.
- Build practical field experience through site visits, construction monitoring, site investigation and drilling programs, core logging, lab testing, instrumentation installation and monitoring, and data review and analysis.
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineers, designers, and geoscientists from conceptual design through construction, while learning how to communicate observations, recommendations, and design ideas clearly.
- Receive mentorship from experienced senior staff in a smaller-office workplace where your effort, curiosity, and contributions are valued.
- Develop the habits needed to succeed in a consulting environment, including prioritizing competing demands, following through on commitments, and looking for ways to add value beyond the task assigned.
- Travel to various project sites within Canada and internationally.

What we require:



We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to help you build on it. We do, however, require the following qualifications:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
- Registered, or eligible to register, with EGBC as an Engineer-in-Training.
- Some exposure to geotechnical engineering through academic projects, co-op terms, field programs, internships, or early career experience.
- Experience with some industry specific software such as, GeoStudio and/or Rocscience.

In addition to the must-have requirements you will excel in the role if you have the following:
- Strong English communication skills.
- An ability to travel to and comfortableness with remote work sites.
- Initiative, follow-through, and a willingness to contribute to multidisciplinary project teams.

The salary for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 per year. Salary is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level. Along with continued career development, KCB offers:
