Grounded Packaging

Vancouver

Growth Manager, North America

Vancouver, BC | Full-time | Base + uncapped commission

Grounded is looking for a commercially ambitious, technically minded Growth Manager to help build our North American business from Vancouver. We're particularly interested in people who already know the CPG, consumer brand or specialty coffee industries. You might currently work for a brand, roaster, co-manufacturer, distributor, supplier, ingredient company, equipment business or another company embedded in these industries.

You don't need to know packaging. We can teach you that. What we're looking for is harder to teach: industry knowledge, commercial instinct, intellectual curiosity, technical capability and a genuine hunger to build something.

About Grounded

Grounded is building a better way for brands to source and manage sustainable flexible packaging.

We combine deep packaging expertise, global manufacturing capability and our own technology to help brands develop, specify and manage packaging across increasingly complex supply chains.

We're a small team by design. We use technology and AI extensively to remove repetitive work and give our people more time for judgment, relationships, problem-solving and getting things done.

We're building our North American business and looking for exceptional people to join us in Vancouver.

The role

This is a sales role, but it isn't simple transactional selling. Packaging is technically and commercially complex. A single project can involve materials, barrier requirements, manufacturing processes, artwork, sustainability, compliance, pricing, minimum order quantities, freight, lead times and inventory. Our salespeople need to understand all of it.

You'll work with customers from the initial opportunity through to delivery. You'll understand what they're trying to achieve, help develop the right solution, manage the commercial process and stay close to the project until it is successfully delivered.

In practice, that makes the role a combination of sales, technical problem-solving and project management.

We can teach you packaging. We have the people,

systems and technology to get someone good up to speed quickly. What we need from you is the capability and motivation to learn it.

What you'll do

- You'll build relationships and create new business across North America, using your existing industry knowledge and network to help us get traction quickly.
- You'll identify companies we should be working with, open doors, understand their problems and turn those conversations into commercial opportunities.
- You'll learn packaging quickly and become technically credible with customers.
- You'll take ownership of projects from opportunity through to delivery, coordinating the information, people and decisions required to get them over the line.
- You'll use AI extensively across research, prospecting, technical learning, account preparation, communication, project management and follow-up.
- You'll travel to meet customers, attend industry events and become an active part of the communities we sell into.
- And you'll help us work out how a modern, AI-enabled packaging sales organisation should operate.

Who we're looking for

We're less interested in your exact job title than in the kind of person you are.

- You know the industry. You understand the CPG, consumer brand or specialty coffee world and ideally already have relationships within it.
- You're hungry. You want responsibility, commercial upside and the chance to make your mark. You're motivated by winning and by seeing the direct result of your work.
- You learn quickly. You can absorb a lot of information, make connections between things and become credible in technical subjects quickly.
- You're technically minded. You don't need to be an engineer, but you enjoy understanding how things work.

Specifications and detail don't intimidate you. They interest you.
- You own the whole project. You're not someone who wants to close a deal and throw it over the fence. You can manage multiple moving parts, stay across the detail and follow something through to completion.
- You're AI-enabled. You already use AI or are extremely motivated to become excellent at it. We expect our people to use these tools extensively to learn faster, work faster and operate at a higher level.
- You're good with people. You can build genuine relationships with founders and operators without feeling like a stereotypical salesperson.
- You care about sustainability. Sustainable packaging is why Grounded exists. You should be genuinely interested in the problem and excited about helping companies make better decisions.
- You're happy to travel. Vancouver is the base, but North America is the market.

Where you might come from

There are two backgrounds we're particularly interested in.

- CPG / consumer brands: You might have worked for a growing consumer brand, co-manufacturer, distributor, ingredient company, agency, supplier or another business serving the CPG ecosystem.
- Specialty coffee: You might work for a roaster, green coffee company, equipment business, distributor, software company or another company deeply embedded in the specialty coffee community.

Packaging experience is welcome, but it isn't necessary. In some ways, we'd rather teach an exceptional industry person packaging than teach an experienced packaging salesperson everything else.

The chance

This is a role for someone who wants their next few years to matter. You'll work closely with the founders and senior team, have considerable freedom to build your market and be rewarded directly for the business you create.

We're looking for someone who wants to learn quickly, sell something genuinely technical, build relationships across an industry they already understand and help us build a significant North American business.

If you're very good, there is a lot of room to grow with it.
