Wage
Starting at $21.66 per hour

Closing date: September 14, 2026
Start Date: October 5, 2026 until June 18, 2027. May be extended.
4 weeks of Program Breaks:
- December 21, 2026 – January 1, 2027 (two weeks)
- February 15th – 19th, 2027 (1 week)
- March 26, 2027 – April 2, 2027 (1 week plus the STAT)
Program Year week 30 ends June 18th, 2027.
Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Childcare Services Director, the Home Instructions for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Home Visitor provides weekly home-based, educational programming and activities to parents and their children ages 3—5 that enables parents to prepare their children for school. This position helps parents understand early childhood development concepts that increases the parents’ ability to observe and understand their children’s learning process and development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Programming
· Executes curriculum with “practice” child on a daily basis
· Meets with participating families each week to deliver program content, including role-playing the curriculum
· Plans and facilitates monthly group meetings with the families in the cluster area, which includes role-playing the curriculum and the provision of an enrichment activity
· Assists in program promotion and recruits families who meet program criteria
· Participates in weekly in-service training sessions and other staff development activities
Relationship Management
· Models relationship-building activities parents can do with their children
· Mentors and shares program objectives, activities and information to parents
· Builds trusting relationship with families based on a family-centred approach curriculum
Administration
· Keeps supervisor informed of child/family progress and family issues and concerns as they arise
· Completes and submits all required reports and other documentation on a timely basis as required by the supervisor
· Assists in maintaining an effective record keeping system for participating families
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or possession of GED certificate and one year of experience with young children and families.
· A parent of a 3—5 year old child or access to a pre-school child with whom to practice activities is an asset.
· Knowledge and/or training in Early Childhood Education (ECE) preferred, but not required.
· Preference given to mothers who have been in the program.
· Preference for Home Visitors to speak: Dari/Pushto, Mandarin, Arabic, Tigrinya,
· Must be permanent Resident of Canada
Required Licenses and/or Certifications
· Criminal Occurrence Security Check – Must complete a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check in good standing and within three months prior to first day of employment.
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
