About The Role The Human Resources and Payroll (HR) Coordinator at Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is a key position responsible for providing comprehensive HR support at the local level. Reporting directly to the Director of HR and working in collaboration with the Assistant Director of HR, this role involves managing recruitment processes, labour relations, and payroll functions. The HR Coordinator acts as a vital link between management, employees, and external agencies, ensuring that HR policies and procedures are effectively implemented and aligned with organizational goals.

This position requires a proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, multicultural environment. Frequent travel across Nunavik communities is expected to facilitate community engagement and support HR initiatives.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, demonstrating a minimum of three years of study, or hold a management or senior management position with significant HR responsibilities. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in HR or related fields is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in recruitment, labour relations, and payroll management, especially within a unionized environment or educational setting.

Knowledge of Inuit culture and fluency in Inuktitut,



alongside proficiency in English or French, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational and management skills, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to travel frequently across Nunavik communities.

Experience in working within a school board or similar educational institutions is considered an asset.

Responsibilities The HR Coordinator’s responsibilities encompass a broad range of functions aimed at supporting organizational effectiveness and employee well-being:

- Recruitment: Collaborate with center directors to identify staffing needs, update job postings, and coordinate recruitment activities. Manage the entire hiring process, including advertising, candidate selection, onboarding, and probationary follow-up. Provide data and insights on recruitment trends and handle criminal background checks for employees, volunteers, and contractors.
- Labour Relations: Support employees regarding working conditions, collective agreements, directives, and benefits. Address employee requests and questions, forwarding complex issues to the Labour Relations team. Participate in disciplinary investigations, work climate surveys, and grievance procedures. Contribute to health and safety initiatives and participate in related committees.
- Payroll: Offer guidance to managers and employees on payroll matters, including recovery of overpayments and attendance management. Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, attendance, and related documentation.



Address discrepancies or claims raised by employees and maintain payroll data integrity.
- Other Tasks: Contribute to HR projects and initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Execute additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, supporting the overall HR function and organizational development.
