Community Implementation and Adoption Specialist
Remote, Canada-based. Full-time, permanent.
$65,000+ with experience, plus a discretionary annual bonus of up to 30%. Open vacancy, new seat.
What melyn does melyn works with First Nations across every province and territory. We run three teams. Empower writes the grants and funding applications. Impact delivers the projects that funding pays for. melynBrain is our platform, and it is where this role sits.
melynBrain is one system for running a Nation. Every department in the band office, in a single system. Nations across every province and territory are joining and we need to grow our 2-person team of strong, independent, and holistic thinking implementation specialists to support this.
The job
You take a Nation from signed contract to daily use, in 8 to 10 weeks. You’ll run more than one implementation at a time, at different stages.
Your responsibilities in a nutshell: Exploratory interviews > Implementation Plan > Migration > Configuration > On-site Training > Documentation > Iterate and do it again.
Most of the people you train are not technical. Some have been doing it the same way for 20 years out of a binder. Changing that without making anyone feel stupid is the hardest part of the job and the part that decides whether the implementation worked.
You’ll also write it all down. Whoever runs an implementation documents it, and that becomes the living playbook the next one runs on.
Travel is both the most rewarding and demanding part of this job. Some weeks are configuration tasks at your kitchen table. Others are three or four days in a community, teaching all day and prepping at night. For now, expect up to 50% of your working days on the road or in community.
We are a startup, so this role will change as we bring on more Nations and learn what it takes to keep them.
We want you to help us build that.
What we need:
- Full driver's licence - you need to be able to rent a vehicle anywhere in Canada
- Valid passport or eligibility to hold one - Some conferences and work trips will be cross-border.
- No restrictions on travel, including fly-in communities, and multi-day stretches away from home.
- You can teach. In a room, in plain language, to people who may not be comfortable with technology.
- You already use AI tools every day, in your work or your life, and can show us something you’ve built. This one isn’t optional - ramping up here means learning a complex product and client profile, and building tools to help you and your team work.
- Systems thinking or systems design experience.
- Getting something live and adopted, in any setting. Implementation, customer success, onboarding, project delivery, band office operations, IT rollout, teaching, training design, or something else we didn’t even think of yet.
- Tech savvy and eager to learn new technologies.
- Organized and self-directed. You can run several implementations at different stages without dropping one.
- Real respect for Indigenous self-determination, governance and OCAP principles.
- You can read and navigate rooms with ease. Seniority, culture, and personalities of all types don’t phase you.
Job titles matter less to us than evidence. If you’ve never held an implementation role, tell us what you’ve taken from zero to launch, how you did it,
and who you took along with you.
What helps (not required, nice to have)
- SaaS or ERP implementation, or data migration.
- Writing knowledge documentation or building learning modules.
- Project management.
- Work with First Nations, Métis or Inuit communities, organizations or governments.
- Band office operations, housing administration, grants or finance.
- An Indigenous language.

We’re self-funded and run lean. There’s no equity or RRSP matching today. What we commit to is raising the pay of the people who help us build, instead of saving the better offer for the next hire.
What it’s like here melyn is a lean startup; small team, moving fast, and building the plane while we fly it. You work directly across the org, including with the founders.
Nobody counts your hours and nobody hands you a queue. You’ll find gaps, work, and projects nobody created or assigned, and you’re the kind of person to pick it up, identify the fix, and maybe even build it yourself. If waiting on permission makes you impatient, this will feel like a lot of room. If you can’t handle ambiguity or quick pivots, this is not the spot for you.
Everyone here is driven, curious, and easy to get along with. We also love a positive meme.
