Who we're looking for?

Reporting to the Director of Purchasing, we are seeking an Inventory Controller to take hands-on ownership of inventory accuracy across the business. As the company's dedicated inventory-control resource, this role will coordinate cycle counts, investigate variances, strengthen transaction discipline, and ensure inventory records reliably support purchasing, production, customer service, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in the ERP system and on the plant floor, tracing discrepancies to their source and preventing recurrence.

Inventory Accuracy & Control

- Own inventory accuracy across raw materials, components, work-in-process, finished goods, and purchased-for-resale products.
- Develop, maintain, and execute a risk-based cycle-counting program, including count schedules, recounts, variance thresholds, and escalation protocols.

- Investigate inventory discrepancies to identify root causes, process breakdowns, and required corrective actions rather than simply adjusting balances.
- Coordinate and support annual physical inventories and other financial or audit-related inventory counts.

ERP, Transactions & Master Data

- Monitor the timeliness and accuracy of inventory transactions, including receipts, material issues, transfers, production completions, returns, adjustments, and shipments.
- Review and maintain inventory-control data in the ERP system, including warehouse locations, units of measure, lot or serial requirements, status codes, and relevant planning parameters.
- Reconcile inventory subledger balances and investigate negative inventory, unusual transactions, inactive locations, and other system exceptions.
- Partner with Finance on month-end inventory reconciliation, valuation questions, adjustment approvals, and audit support.

Analysis & Inventory Optimization

- Analyze inventory accuracy, adjustment activity, excess and obsolete stock, slow-moving items, and inventory turns; report trends and recommended actions.
- Support the Director of Supply Chain and Purchasing team in reviewing safety stock, reorder points, minimum and maximum levels,

and order quantities to reduce excess inventory and stockouts.

Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support

- Develop and maintain inventory-control procedures, count instructions, transaction standards, and approval controls.
- Work with Purchasing, Planning, Receiving, Production, Quality, Shipping, Finance, and IT to correct process gaps that affect inventory integrity.
- Train and coach employees who perform inventory transactions or counts, reinforcing consistent processes and accountability without direct supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience in inventory control, materials management, warehousing, production planning, or a related supply-chain role within a manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated experience with cycle counts, physical inventories, variance investigation, reconciliations, and inventory adjustments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the persistence to trace discrepancies across systems and physical processes.
- Working knowledge of ERP-based inventory transactions and master data, supported by strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with SYSPRO is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while coordinating and communicating effectively across departments.
- Post-secondary education in supply chain, operations, business, accounting, or a related discipline is preferred; APICS/ASCM certification or inventory-control training is an asset.
