Golden Ventures

Toronto

Location: Toronto, ON

Reports to: Head of Platform & Operations

Hybrid: 3 days per week in our Toronto office, with additional in-person time around events and key team moments

Role Type: Individual Contributor

About Golden Ventures

Golden Ventures is one of Canada's leading seed-stage venture capital firms. We partner with ambitious founders building category-defining technology companies across North America.

We're a small team with a big footprint. We invest in exceptional founders, but our work goes well beyond writing a cheque. We help our portfolio companies through talent, community, network, strategic partnerships, events and hands-on support, while continuously improving how the firm operates behind the scenes.

We're now looking for a Marketing & Operations Specialist to join our Platform & Operations team.

About the Role

This is a broad, high-ownership role for someone early in their career who wants a front-row seat to how a venture capital firm operates.

You'll work closely with our Head of Platform & Operations across marketing, operations, events and special projects. Some days you might be writing our founder newsletter or preparing content for LinkedIn. Other days you might be improving a CRM workflow, helping prepare reporting for our investors, building an automation, coordinating a founder dinner or helping launch a brand-new program.

That variety is a feature of the role, not a bug.

We're looking for someone who is an excellent executor first. You are organized, resourceful and able to take something from "we need to do this" to a polished finished product without needing constant direction. Over time, you'll take increasing ownership of programs, systems and initiatives of your own.

There's strategy in this role, but there is also plenty of hands-on work. We are an eight-person team, so everyone pitches in.

What You'll Work On

Marketing & Communications

You'll help Golden show up thoughtfully and consistently with founders, investors and the broader technology ecosystem.

You'll

- Own the execution of Golden's founder and external newsletters, from sourcing content through writing, editing and distribution
- Help build and execute our content strategy across LinkedIn, X and other relevant channels
- Support thought leadership for Golden's investment partners
- Keep our website and portfolio content current
- Help improve how Golden shows up in search, including SEO and AEO
- Develop communications and launch plans for new initiatives
- Track what is working and continuously improve our approach

We're not looking for someone to make TikToks or run paid acquisition campaigns. Our version of marketing is thoughtful,

high-quality brand building for a venture firm. Operations & Systems

You'll help keep the operational backbone of the firm running smoothly and look for better ways to do it.

You'll

- Maintain and improve key CRM, portfolio, LP and stakeholder data
- Support deal logging, portfolio reporting and recurring fund workflows
- Help prepare data and materials for important firm moments such as investor reporting and our Annual General Meeting
- Identify manual or inefficient processes and make them better
- Build lightweight tools, automations and workflows using AI and other technology
- Help ensure our systems remain accurate, useful and trusted by the team

You do not need to be an engineer. You do need to be the kind of person who sees someone doing the same manual task every week and wonders whether there is a better way. Platform, Events & Special Projects

You'll also help bring Golden's founder community and new Platform initiatives to life.

You'll

- Help execute founder dinners, community events and larger Golden programs
- Manage event logistics including venues, vendors, guest communications, budgets and on-site execution
- Support strategic partnerships and relationships across the technology ecosystem
- Help build and operationalize new initiatives such as advisor and scout programs
- Take on new projects as they arise and help turn ideas into something real

Some of this work is glamorous. Some of it is not. You might spend one afternoon helping shape a new founder program and the next printing name tags or cleaning up a database. Both matter.

Who We're Looking For

You likely have 2+ years of full-time professional work experience and have worked somewhere that required you to move quickly, juggle competing priorities and figure things out without a perfect playbook.

Your background could be in marketing, operations, consulting, a startup, financial services, community, events, business development or something adjacent. We care more about how you operate than whether you've already had this exact job.

You'll probably thrive here if:

- You're an excellent writer and communicator
- You're highly organized and have strong attention to detail
- You have good taste and care about the quality of your work

- You can manage multiple projects without dropping the ball
- You're comfortable receiving a goal and figuring out the path to get there
- You're resourceful and naturally look for better ways to do things
- You're comfortable with AI tools and curious about how technology can improve the way you work
- You have strong judgment and know when speed matters versus when something needs extra care
- You're comfortable working independently but know when to ask questions
- You're willing to speak up, share an opinion and challenge an idea respectfully
- You're interested in startups, technology and venture capital
- You're low ego and willing to do whatever needs to get done

Bonus points if you've worked in both a fast-moving startup or small team and a more structured workplace such as consulting, banking, professional services or a larger company. We also love people who build things outside of their formal . That might be a side project, community, event, student organization, small business, newsletter, tool or something else entirely.

What Success Looks Like In your first 3 months

You'll develop a strong understanding of Golden, our portfolio, our stakeholders and how the firm operates. You'll begin taking ownership of recurring marketing and operational responsibilities and work alongside the Head of Platform & Operations on active events and projects.

By 6 months

You'll independently own meaningful parts of the function. You'll be running recurring workflows without needing reminders, executing marketing and communications, improving at least a few processes or systems and taking the lead on portions of our events and new initiatives.

By 12 months

You'll be someone the team can hand a problem or project to and trust that it will get done well. You'll have made our systems better, taken meaningful work off the Head of Platform & Operations' plate and developed areas of the role that you own outright.

Why This Role Is Different

You'll get exposure to nearly every part of a venture capital firm while building relationships with founders, investors, executives and leaders across the technology ecosystem.

You'll also have a lot of room to grow. This role is intentionally broad, and the person who joins will help shape what it becomes over time.

This probably isn't the right role if you're looking to specialize narrowly, need a highly structured environment, want every project to come with a detailed playbook, or only enjoy the strategic parts of a job.

But if you're curious, ambitious, resourceful and get a lot of satisfaction from making things happen, we'd love to meet you.
