Role Description The Senior Staff Accountant (Public Practice) is a Part Time / Contract position located in Calgary that will be performed as a blend of on-site and remote duties.

The individual in this role will prepare and review year-end files (Complication and Tax Engagements)

The Senior Staff Accountant will manage files from planning through completion, communicate directly with clients to gather information and resolve issues,



and provide guidance to junior staff when required.

Qualifications

- Strong public practice experience with preparation and review of financial statements, working paper files, and year-end engagements.
- Advanced technical proficiency in Canadian corporate and personal tax, including compliance and basic tax planning for owner-managed businesses.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a structured, on-site environment.
- Effective client service skills, including explicit written and verbal communication and the ability to explain accounting and tax concepts to non-specialists.
- Proficiency with common accounting and tax software (e.g., CaseWare, Profile, Quickbooks Online), and strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
- Relevant accounting education; CPA designation or advanced candidacy is an asset.
- Previous experience in a small or mid-sized public accounting firm in Canada is highly beneficial.
