Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

Are you an experienced pediatric or emergency nurse with a passion for nursing, and a dedication to providing high-quality patient care?

The Emergency

Department is recruiting outstanding nurses to fill the role of Emergency Nurse. As an emergency practitioner, you will provide care and support to patients and families as they experience illness and injury.

Education To prepare you for the role of emergency nurse we offer a comprehensive orientation and emergency education program that spans over 18 months and includes the following:

- Eight weeks of new hire orientation - four weeks of ED-specific classroom learning combined with small group learning inside the ED, followed by four weeks of preceptorship.
- Emergency Response training after six months
- Trauma Nurse Leader training after one year
- Team Lead training after one year
- Triage nurse training after 18 months

- Develop and implement a nursing plan of care
- Work in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Maintain clinical competence and a solid knowledge base through continued education and life-long learning
- Utilize evidence-based practice in the promotion of professional accountability
- Provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care

Here's What You'll Need

- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in emergency nursing; pediatric emergency nursing is a strong asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
- Demonstrated resilience in a range of complex and demanding situations
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to collaborate constructively
- An ability to remain flexible in workflows and adaptable to change
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and think critically
- Valuable organizational and time management skills

Employment Type

- Permanent full-time (0.8 FTE + 0.2 NRG)
- Includes access to benefits, HOOPP pension plan & personal days
- Shift: days/nights/weekends/holidays

As a member of the Nursing Resource Group (NRG), in addition to your 0.8 FTE, you will offer scheduled availability to manage variances in patient acuity and volumes within the Emergency Department.
