TA Networks Inc. is a Canadian technology and communications company providing networking, telecommunications, cloud, cybersecurity and managed technology solutions to businesses across Canada.
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure our financial records, reporting and processes are accurate, timely and well controlled.
This role reports directly to the CFO and supervises our AP Coordinator.
What you'll be responsible for
Full-cycle accounting & bookkeeping
- Perform weekly transaction processing and general bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Work with our internal AP and invoicing functions to ensure our billing systems and QBO remain accurate and synchronized.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records.
Banking & reconciliations
- Enter and reconcile bank and credit card transactions.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
Accounts receivable & collections
- Process Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) transactions.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up with customers on outstanding balances.
Cash flow
- Prepare weekly cash-flow reporting and forecasting for management.
Payroll & statutory compliance
- Process Canadian payroll in QBO.
- Prepare and submit required CRA remittances and statutory filings.
- Prepare annual CRA submissions and Records of Employment (ROEs) as required.
HST / sales tax
- Prepare and file HST and other applicable sales-tax returns and remittances.
Month-end close
- Lead monthly closing activities, including:
- trial-balance reconciliations;
- bank and account reconciliations;
- capital-asset amortization;
- accruals and prepayments; and
- other month-end adjustments.
Year-end
- Prepare year-end working files.
- Support the external accountant during corporate tax-return preparation.
Team supervision
- Supervise and support the AP Coordinator.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, workload review and quality control.
What we're looking for
- 3–6+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Solid, hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Solid working knowledge of Canadian payroll and CRA remittance requirements.
- Experience preparing and filing HST/sales-tax returns.
- Demonstrated experience performing month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals and amortization.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior accounting staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage weekly, monthly and annual deadlines.
- High attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Clear professional communication skills, particularly for customer collections and internal coordination.
Nice to have
- CPA designation or CPA in progress.
- Experience with connected billing or invoicing systems.
- Experience with cash-flow forecasting, collections and year-end working-paper preparation.
