Senior DevOps Engineer – Java/Python

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Java and Python expertise to join a large-scale technology modernization initiative within the financial services industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in modernizing platforms and data pipelines, with a strong focus on deployment automation, infrastructure standardization, scalability, and technical debt reduction.

This position requires hands-on experience with DevOps practices, containerized environments, cloud technologies, and modern data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and improve automated end-to-end deployment processes for platforms and data pipelines.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure components supporting distributed data platforms.
- Automate infrastructure and application deployments using Ansible and related DevOps technologies.
- Support both batch and real-time data pipeline deployments.
- Work with technologies including Kubernetes, OpenShift, Kafka, Flink, Java, and Python.
- Improve existing platforms by reducing technical debt, consolidating code, and standardizing implementations.
- Contribute to cloud-based environments across AWS and GCP.
- Improve CI/CD processes and promote reliable, repeatable,



and scalable deployments.
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams across North America and, occasionally, Europe.
- Take ownership of technical initiatives and contribute to continuous platform improvements.

Required Qualifications

- Strong experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a similar role.
- Strong programming and scripting skills with Java and Python.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Experience with Kafka and Apache Flink.
- Strong knowledge of Ansible and infrastructure automation.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCP.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and deployment automation.
- Experience working with large-scale, distributed systems or data platforms.
- Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Apache Trino.
- Experience with Apache Pinot.
- Knowledge of Redis and Elasticsearch.
- Experience with real-time and batch data processing pipelines.
- Previous experience in financial services or large enterprise environments.
