TITLE: Technical Business Analyst/QA Analyst

REPORTS TO: Project Manager

STARTING SALARY: Starting at $75,000 per annum (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Business Analyst/QA Analyst who owns requirements from the first customer conversation through to final acceptance. You'll be the person responsible for making sure what we build is what our customers actually need — by understanding the problem deeply, documenting it precisely, and staying with it until it's delivered and verified. For this role, quality ownership includes hands-on testing — you'll verify what ships, not just specify it.

You'll work alongside our project managers and developers, sitting between our customers and the build team. Your job is to turn business needs into clear, testable, technically grounded requirements — and to be the single source of truth on what we're building and why, for the life of the project. Much of our work serves independent pharmacy banner groups and retail operators, so you'll need to understand how these businesses operate — sales, inventory, pricing and promotions, costing, and the POS and ERP systems that support them.

You also need enough technical depth to have credible conversations with developers, understand how systems fit together, and spot gaps in a requirement before a developer does.

We use AI extensively across our business — our developers work with AI coding rigs, and our PMs and analysts use AI tools at every stage of delivery. This isn't a novelty for us; it's how we work. We're also building AI capabilities into the products we deliver to customers. You should be someone who is genuinely comfortable working with AI tools day-to-day and open to pushing the boundaries of how they can improve delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Requirements Ownership — Own requirements end-to-end: elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, change control, and acceptance. If there's a question about what we're building, you're the one who answers it.
- Elicitation & Analysis — Run discovery sessions with customers and internal stakeholders, map current- and future-state processes, identify gaps, dependencies, and edge cases,



and challenge assumptions before they become scope.
- Technical Documentation — Produce user stories with clear acceptance criteria, functional and technical specifications, data mappings, process flows, and integration requirements (APIs, file feeds, EDI). Your documentation should be precise enough that developers can build from it and QA can test against it — no ambiguity, no back-and-forth.
- Backlog Refinement — Maintain a groomed, prioritised backlog with the project manager and development lead. Lead refinement sessions and keep stories sprint-ready so developers never wait on requirements.
- Developer Support — Be the go-to for requirement clarification during the sprint. Review implemented work against the specification and catch drift early.
- Quality & Acceptance — Define acceptance criteria and the definition of done, own test scenarios, coordinate UAT with customers, and confirm that what shipped matches what was specified.
- Hands-On Testing — Write and execute test cases for current features and regressions, log defects with clear reproduction steps and severity, verify fixes, and validate data across integrations and file feeds before release. You don’t just define quality — you test for it.
- Process Improvement — Identify better ways to capture, document, and communicate requirements — including how we use AI to do it faster and more accurately.

What We're Looking For

Required:

- 3–5+ years as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst in a software development environment, owning requirements through the full lifecycle.
- Hands-on Agile/Scrum experience — writing user stories and acceptance criteria, leading backlog refinement, and participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Solid technical grounding — able to read data models, understand APIs and system integrations, work with SQL at a basic level,



and document requirements at a technical level that developers can act on.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including QA, UAT, deployment, and release processes.
- 2+ years of hands-on testing responsibility — writing and executing test cases, and managing defects through to verification — within a BA or hybrid BA/QA role.
- Proven ability to run elicitation with non-technical stakeholders and turn ambiguous, conflicting input into structured, testable requirements.
- Familiarity with retail business operations — you should be able to speak confidently about concepts like point of sale, inventory management, pricing, margins, and supply chain workflows.
- Experience with requirements and ticketing tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar, and with process/diagramming tools such as Lucidchart, Visio, or Miro.
- Genuine comfort using AI tools as part of your daily workflow, and curiosity about what's possible.
- Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to multitask is a must — you'll be juggling requirements for several projects and customers at once, and you need to switch context without losing detail or momentum.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong Advantage:

- Experience with independent pharmacy banner groups, pharmacy retail, or franchise/co-op retail networks.
- Hands-on experience with POS, ERP, pricing/promotions, loyalty, or inventory management platforms.
- Experience with process modelling (BPMN), data modelling, or writing API and integration specifications.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development workflows or shipping AI-powered product features.
- Experience working in a small or scaling team where you wear multiple hats.
