COOK (Full-time)

If you enjoy being around children, feel comfortable in a kitchen and want consistent full-time work, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

We are searching for a permanent full-time cook to prepare simple pre-set menus for our food program. In addition to food prep, this position will be responsible for general kitchen clean up.

Reports to:

- The Cook reports to the Food Services Manager.

Here’s how you will make a positive impact on a day-to-day basis:

- Prepare meals for groups of 35 to 60 children
- Wash and sanitize lunch and snack dishes
- Use knives and other basic home kitchen equipment
- Follow recipes and uses basic math skills to determine quantities needed




- Maintain inventory and order food from suppliers
- Communicate professionally and effectively
- Work effectively within a team
- Work independently
- Keep a tidy, organized and efficient kitchen by washing and sanitizing equipment, supplies, work surfaces and cupboards
- Enjoy cooking for children in a busy atmosphere

In addition to being a wonderful and positive person & team player, you must have:

- Food Safe Certification 1
- Clear criminal record check
- High school diploma
- Basic First Aid (formerly OFA Level 1)
- Some experience cooking complete meals for groups

Additional skills and experiences may include:

- Courses in nutrition, food preparation, and storage
- Courses in sanitation and hygiene practices
- Experience working with/around children

Terms of Employment:

- Salary: $25.31 per hour plus employer-paid health and welfare benefits.
- Permanent full-time position: 7.5 hours/day (37.5 hours/week) from 8am to 4pm, from Monday to Friday
- Starting: As soon as possible
- Location: MULTIPLE LOCATIONS DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER
