We are a busy family in Halifax, Nova Scotia seeking a caring, reliable part-time House Manager/Nanny to support our household beginning May 2026. This is a long-term position running through the end of June 2027.
Our 10-month-old daughter attends full-time daycare. As a result, this role is primarily focused on household management, with one week out of every five dedicated primarily to childcare support. We are looking for someone who enjoys a balance of childcare and household assistance and is comfortable working within a predictable rotating schedule.
I am a medical resident based in Halifax, and my husband is a physician who works primarily from home, with travel to New Glasgow two days per week. Due to our variable work and on-call schedules, we are seeking dependable support to help keep our home running smoothly and to provide childcare coverage when needed.
Schedule
Our needs follow a 5-week rotating schedule based on my husband’s work commitments:
Weeks 1–3 and Week 5 (Monday–Friday)
15 hours per week (approximately 3 hours per day - these hours are versatile [anytime before 5PM])
Primary responsibilities include:
- Preparing family supper
- Preparing breakfast (e.g., overnight oats)
- Kitchen clean-up
- Light housekeeping, including:
◦ Surface cleaning and vacuuming of high-traffic areas
◦ Cleaning and organizing the children’s play area
◦ Laundry, including folding
◦ Emptying garbage and recycling
◦ Watering plants
Week 4 (Monday–Thursday)
4:00 pm – 8:00 pm (16 hours per week)
During this week, my husband will be working from home on call, and I will be studying for my licensing exam. I typically arrive home between 5:30–6:00 pm. We value family dinners whenever possible and are looking for support with childcare and meal preparation to help maximize our time together during these busy evenings.
Childcare responsibilities during this week may include:
- Feeding
- Bath time
- Assisting with the bedtime routine
Qualifications
- Experience caring for infants and/or young toddlers
- CPR certification
- Comfortable with meal preparation and light housekeeping
If this opportunity sounds like a good fit, we would love to hear from you to discuss the position further.
