$17.60/hour plus vacation pay in accordance with the ESA

Job Description:

The Assistant Laboratory Technologist will assist with laboratory preparations associated with undergraduate chemistry and biology labs. Jobs will include setting up equipment, materials and chemical reagents as well as maintaining cleanliness and order of lab spaces. Laboratory Technologist will work alongside the assistant and train the student on all duties.

Duties Include: (Provide a brief list of required duties)

- Reading lab preparatory notes and laboratory procedures to understand, anticipate and talk with the technologist about laboratory set-up.
- Communicating with technologist on tasks requiring attention.
- Able to change tasks to respond to changing priorities.
- Assembling equipment, tools and supplies required for labs.
- Dissembling equipment and lab set-up and putting items away.
- Clean up lab, equipment, supplies, and glassware.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Must be a current Nipissing University student
- Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program (see link below to apply for NUWORK Program)
- Work Study (NU Work) | Nipissing University

- Comfortable communicating with faculty, staff and students.
- Confident in asking questions if uncertain about any directions or instructions.
- Being a quick learner and taking initiative in recognizing something that needs to be done and doing it before being asked,



especially for tidying up spaces post-prep and post-lab.
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
- Previous lab experience is an asset.
- Second year student minimum.
- Chemistry experience is an asset.
- Strong organization skills are an asset.
