Role Description The Civil Superintendent is a full-time, in office role based in Metro Vancouver, BC, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on underground utilities and roadworks for civil construction sites. This position coordinates and supervises crews and subcontractors, ensures work is completed according to plans and specifications, and maintains site organization and productivity. The role includes monitoring safety compliance, conducting site inspections, and implementing corrective actions to uphold health and safety standards. The Civil Superintendent tracks progress against schedules and budgets, supports project documentation and reporting, and collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve issues and keep projects moving efficiently.



The role also involves fostering a positive site culture focused on quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Construction Site Management skills, including supervision of crews, coordination of subcontractors, and oversight of daily field activities.
- Candidates should possess Construction Safety expertise, such as knowledge of safety regulations, hazard identification, and implementation of site-specific safety plans.
- Candidates should possess solid Organization Skills, including time management, documentation, and maintaining orderly and efficient job sites.
- Candidates should possess Budgeting capabilities, including monitoring costs, tracking resources, and supporting financial control on projects.
- Candidates should possess Project Management skills, such as scheduling, progress tracking, and effective coordination with stakeholders.
- Relevant experience as a Civil Superintendent or similar field leadership role on civil infrastructure or heavy construction projects.
- Knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment, with the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and collaborate with clients and consultants.
- Proficiency in construction management software and basic computer applications for reporting and documentation.
- Relevant technical diploma, trade certification, or degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
